About Me
I live in the Pacific Northwest. I have a day job in a profession. Health and fitness is a passion of mine.
Fitness Background
I’ve been a fitness enthusiast since I was 15 years old, which is when I joined my first gym. Ever since then I’ve been working out in some fashion. I say some fashion because I’ve changed the focus of my workouts over the years – but I’ve always done some level of cardio using a variety of fitness equipment.
I started, as many teenage guys do, weight lifting. I loved weight lifting and went at it with real gusto. Since then I’ve branched out into yoga and running.
Nutrition History
I was lucky to get into weight lifting at an early age because I learned while young the importance of good nutrition. Granted, I’ve shifted my eating habits over the years; but more or less I’ve eaten well. When I was seriously into weight lifting, I ate tons of protein. Then came my yoga phase; I became vegan. Yes, that is quite the shift from a huge protein consumer (lots of animal products) to a vegan diet. I ate a vegan diet for about 2.5 years. It didn’t suit me; I was always hungry. That said, I know a vegetarian or vegan diet suits many people. My view is to eat in a manner that works for you.
Now my diet is moderate. I eat all the food groups. I avoid high fructose corn syrup like the plague. My sugar weakness is dark chocolate and real liquorice, which I eat often. I eat meat, seafood, lots of oats and grains, fruits, and vegetables. I also am not so fanatical not to enjoy pastries and pizzas now and then.
