HealthRider H90e Elliptical Trainer Review

This HealthRider H90e Elliptical Trainer review sets out in an easy-to-read format the specifications and details all about this elliptical trainer.

OVERVIEW

The HealthRider H90e is an 18″ fixed stride elliptical with an incline ramp inclining to a maximum 30 degrees (with numerous incline settings).  This rear-entry elliptical trainer uses magnetic resistance technology and is outfitted with 24 workout programs is iFit compatible for even more workout programs.

Features

Stride Length Fixed 18″ stride length.  The HealthRider H90e is outfitted with a ramp giving you the option for an incline stride.  Although the stride length is set at 18″, you do have some variation available with respect to an incline stride.  The incline rise to a maximum of 30 degrees.
Type Rear-drive elliptical trainer.  This means the flywheel (the core of an elliptical – akin to the motor on a treadmill) is located at the back of the elliptical.  The flywheel is the mechanism that drives and rotates the lower bar where the foot pedals are attached – it does so in an elliptical shape of course.  The lower bar is attached to the moving handle bars which creates the full body elliptical motion workout.
Incline Option
  • Yes, the HealthRider H90e Elliptical Trainer has a motorized incline feature using HealthRider’s Power Ramp technology.  The adjustable ramp lets you set an incline at any one of numerous incline setting to a maximum of 30 degrees.
  • When you adjust the stride incline, you target different lower body muscle groups which provides for more workout variety.
Resistance Technology SMR Silent Magnetic Resistance.  Magnetic resistance is becoming the standard resistance technology for elliptical trainers.  The reason it’s popular is it is a frictionless resistance mechanism which results in a silent and smooth stride.
Moveable Handle Bars for Upper Body Workout
  • This elliptical offers two sets of handle bars.  A dynamic set that moves in sync with your feet and a static or fixed set situated inside the moving handle bars.  The two sets of handle bars give you the option to workout your upper body … or not.
  • The moving handle bars use SMR Silent Magnetic Resistance technology which is a frictionless resistance technology.  The result:  A smooth and fluid upper body stride.  The leg movements use the same magnetic resistance – so your entire workout is smooth and fluid.
  • The moving handle bars are connected to the leg stride portion so that when you pull back with your right arm, for instance, your right leg moves forward.  Of course, when your right leg is in the forward position, your left leg is at the back and your left arm is forward.
  • There are heart rate sensors in the handle grips (fixed handle grips – not the moving handle grips) that measure your heart rate while you work out.
Maximum Wt. Capacity 325 pounds.  Not bad for an elliptical priced under $1,000.  Given the HealthRider H90e incorporated SpaceSaver design – which means the pedals and base fold reducing the space it takes up while not in use by 3 feet.
Folding
  • Yes – and it’s not often you see a folding option for an elliptical.  It doesn’t quite fold like a treadmill – but when the HealthRider H90e Elliptical is folded, it will save 3 feet of space.
  • The folding components are the foot pedals and elliptical base.
Heart Rate Monitor Club Design BioLogic Dual-Grip Heart Rate Monitor – the heart rate sensors are located on the fixed handle bars.  Simply place your hands on the grips and the computer will measure your heart rate while you work out.  You can get a heart rate reading occasionally or keep your hands on the pulse grips for maintaining a heart rate reading throughout your workout.
Foot Pedals Large, oversized foot pedals accommodate most stances and gaits.  Each foot pedal has a lip on the sides and front to secure your feet and prevent slipping off the pedals while striding.  Also, each foot pedal is textured with gripping texture for further foot security.
Magazine Rack Narrow, but deep.  I like the deep magazine reading rack because it can accommodate a book as well.  Many home and gym fitness equipment machines have a much too small (too narrow and too shallow) reading racks.  It’s nice to see a deeper reading rack – now if it were wider, then the HealthRider H90e would be ideal for readers.
Water Bottle Holder Yes, centrally located in the center under the reading rack.  It’s not too far from both sets of handle bars so you can conveniently stay hydrated.
