This Smooth Fitness 7.35 treadmill review includes 2012 updates for this treadmill.
Some treadmill brands roll out new models. Smooth updates its existing line of treadmills. For 2012 Smooth updated several of their treadmills including the 7.35 model.
I’m most impressed with the increased horsepower and new console design (see console image below). Smooth will be a treadmill powerhouse in 2012. I’ve always been impressed with the 62″ long running surface on the 7.35 – given its price (a very good price for the premium feature set and impressive warranty).
What’s new with the Smooth 7.35 treadmill?
- 3.25 horsepower motor (increased from 3.0 hp).
- Top speed increase to 12 mph from 11.3 mph.
- Built in audio device (MP3) charger in the console using an USB connection.
- Easy iPad rack – very cool.
- New console design. Check out the Smooth 7.35 treadmill console:

Smooth Fitness is a huge online retailer of exercise equipment – includuding treadmills. Smooth treadmills are shipped directly from the manufacturer which eliminates numerous levels of costs you typically see in a traditional bricks and mortar store. Smooth Fitness claims to pass these savings on to you.
The Smooth Fitness 7.35 Treadmill as you can see from the above is a top-quality treadmill for under $1,500. One of the biggest issues when buying a treadmill is the frame quality. Once a frame goes, a treadmill is not very useful. It’s also the frame that takes a beating. You’ll see with the the Smooth Fitness 7.35 Treadmill that the frame is commercial-grade for not commercial prices.
A treadmill investment is just that … an investment especially for people living in cold climates. It’s a way to maintain your training year-around. Many people who have gym memberships also invest in a treadmill in their home for convenience. Sometimes the gym production isn’t so much fun, yet you want to get a quick run in – that’s where a treadmill is awfully handy.
Key Features On the Smooth Fitness 7.35 Treadmill in Detail
Very generous running deck size
The 7.35 comes with a 20 inch wide by 62 inch long running deck. You don’t see many residential treadmills priced under $2,000 with a running deck loner than 60 inches. If you’re over 6 feet tall or sprint, you might really like the extra 2 inches. Of course longer means it takes up more space.
Power
This 7.35 treadmill is outfitted with a 3.25 HP continuous duty motor (increased from 3.0 for the 2012 model). This is more than enough power for even demanding runners. You won’t lack for power. Given the price is well under $2,000 (at the time this article was published), you get plenty of power for the dollar.
It’s Fast Enough
You can crank up the speed to 12 miles per hour (updated to 12 mph for 2012). This is decent. In fact, many treadmills top out at 10 mph. The extra speed is great if you’re into HIIT. Don’t worry, it also offers low speeds that increase incrementally starting at a crawling .5 mph.
Hill Training
The Smooth 7.35 treadmill offers 15 incline levels. If you wish to simulate hill training or like hiking on a treadmill but want some serious resistance. then you have the option … 15 options.
Heart-Rate Monitor
This again, is where Smooth Fitness delivers. The 7.35 treadmill comes with a wireless heart strap. I can’t tell you how much of an added benefit this is. I hate having to maintain a grip on pulse sensors. I prefer moving my arms. If you like monitoring your heart rate during a workout (many workouts are based on heart rate), you have the freedom to maintain your natural stride with the wireless heart rate monitor.
Folding Feature
The last important feature I’ll mention that the 7.35 Smooth treadmill comes with is a folding option. Now, I know this isn’t a premium feature any more. Hundreds of treadmills fold. Howe some people, perhaps you, require a folding feature and could be a deal-breaker if it doesn’t fold.
Unprecedented parts and electronics warranty. With a 7 year parts and electronics warranty, the Smooth 7.35 treadmill is in a warranty league of their own (for now).
