Treadmill Size and Dimension Considerations when Buying a Treadmill

There’s a difference between treadmill running surface area size and the full treadmill size dimensions.

What to consider when looking at treadmill size dimension

Treadmill dimensions include 3 measurements:

  • Height
  • width
  • Length

If you have a tight space, obviously width and length are important considerations.  Be sure to measure your space and compare it to the stated width and length of a treadmill.  You’ll also want to ensure you have sufficient space to enter and exit the treadmill.

Height consideration

Many people don’t consider height of a treadmill console when buying a treadmill, but it should be considered if you intend to watch TV.

Unfortunately the range in console height doesn’t vary much.  However, if you’re not very tall and wish to watch television while working out, you may have difficult viewing the TV because the console could obstruct your view.

You have 2 solutions:

  1. Buy a treadmill that doesn’t have a tall console; or
  2. Raise your television.

Raising your television is probably the most likely solution because treadmill consoles don’t vary much in height.

You could also buy a treadmill with a TV.  Again, be sure to look at the height of the TV on the treadmill itself because you might not be able to see it if you’re not very tall.
